Frequently asked questions

How does the subscription work?

Every month our impact team selects the projects that our Climate Action Workforce businesses will support. Based on your subscription level and number of employees, you then receive your monthly impact when your subscription renews.

How do you choose which projects you support?

At Ecologi, our in-house Impact Team maintains an in-depth due diligence process to ensure our reforestation partners are of the highest calibre and the climate projects we support are those with the highest chance of success and efficacy.

Before we scrutinise climate projects on an individual basis, we refer to Ecologi’s climate impact strategy for selecting the kinds of projects we support. This is a regionalised strategy – which means that our team takes a look at exactly which kinds of climate interventions are best applied around different regions of the world – according to the latest science. You can read our Climate Impact Regionalisation Strategy in full, here.

When it comes to reforestation partners, our strict due diligence and partner onboarding process covers a wide range of criteria which our partners must meet before we bring them onboard. This includes drilling down on the type and quality of forest restoration they do; how they handle risks on the ground, including risks from fires and logging; how they prioritise social impact, equity and fairness; their ecological integrity, reputation, credentials and expertise. We also actively monitor our projects centrally, receiving and reviewing reports of planting and survival rates; using satellite imaging platforms to examine tree cover over time; and undertaking spot checks during the site visits our team undertakes on the ground.

All of this leaves us confident that the projects you support are having a real impact on the ground – not just through the planting of ecologically appropriate trees, but also through generating rippling co-benefits for the communities in which they take place.

How can you prove our impact?

We publish certificates each month of how many tonnes of CO2 (‘carbon credits’) have been prevented from going into the atmosphere or removed from it. View these here. The standards of these projects are certified at the highest level by Gold Standard.

In terms of trees planted, you can view the associated invoice receipts of purchases from our tree planting partner, Eden Projects.

But who is checking our partners are actually planting trees? Our partners are regularly audited by third parties, check out this annual audit for our Madagascan tree planting project. Read more on quantifying tree impact here.

Is it easy to cancel my subscription?

Yes! Our billing is done monthly and you can cancel at anytime, you simply won't be charged for your next subscription renewal.

What's the survival rate of these trees?

The initial survival rate at our mangrove restoration projects (where the majority of our trees are planted) exceeds 80%. However, between years three and five the young mangrove trees begin to produce their own propagules (baby mangrove trees) resulting in a proliferation of natural regeneration. Multiple studies demonstrate the initial survival rate combined with natural regeneration results in a luxuriant impact ranging between 150 and 500 percent. For all of our tree-planting projects, we are selective in choosing partners to work with who actively take steps to secure these high survival rates.
